About
Agita Reke is a Latvian electroacoustic music composer, performer, and sound artist. Her artistic practice encompasses fixed media, live performance, audiovisual works, and sound installations.
As a composer, she has collaborated with contemporary music ensembles such as L’Ensemble Multilatérale (Paris), Fractales (Belgium), NAMES (Salzburg), Ensemble for New Music Tallinn, Latvian Radio Choir, and Sinfonietta Rīga. As a performer, she has been a member of the electroacoustic experimental project Systema Solaris (Riga) and the electronic duo flowerpower. In 2021, she participated in the Venice Biennale Musica College as an experimental performer. Her work has been presented at festivals such as Skaņu Mežs, Tallinn Music Week (Skaņu Mežs & Üle Heli stage), Ung Nordisk Musik Reykjavík, and Afekt (Tartu).
In her artistic practice, she explores spatial electronic sound and textural sound synthesis, focusing on the perception of sonic space. In audiovisual works, she is interested in the interaction between image, sound, and environment, and in how audiences engage with audiovisual space in a contemplative, perceptual manner. Her work combines acoustic performance (violin) with electroacoustic and audiovisual composition to create soft, immersive, and emotionally immediate sonic environments centered on perceptual intimacy.
